Candles & Hair Cuts & Cooking Oh My…

It’s FALL!! Horray…Yesss…Yipee!!!! Ok so let’s just say I may be slightly excited for fall. I love fall. I mean come on, who doesn’t? The trees are beautiful, the weather is perfect (not too cold, not too hot), you finally get to light candles, wear cozy sweaters, cook yummy meals and drink lots and lots of Starbucks. Enjoy this time of year, it’s an amazing time to get back into healthy routines and healthy and happy mindsets.

Let’s start off with a cozy meal that you can make on a Friday night with the candles lit and a glass of wine in hand. Grilled Shrimp Spaghetti. Now keep in mind, veggie stands are still open. Please, please, please be sure to buy your veggies fresh and local. The flavour is so amazing and so much better than grocery store veggies from California.

Grilled Shrimp Spaghetti

Ingredients:
-gluten free spaghetti
-shrimp (whatever size you wish)
-yellow and red peppers
-zucchini
-red onion
-garlic
-olive oil
-sea salt and pepper

Directions: Cook pasta according to package (tip: add salt to the boiling water, it will take away the stickiness of the gluten free pasta). Sauté the shrimp in olive oil and garlic, once shrimp is cooked remove it from the pan and sauté peppers, zucchini and onions (you may want to add more olive oil and garlic to the pan). The longer you sauté the veggies on low the softer and sweeter they will taste (sautéing them on high for 2 minutes will burn them and take away all the flavour). Add the shrimp back into the pan, sauté a few more minutes on low heat. Once the pasta is done, add it to the veggies. Drizzle olive oil and salt and pepper. Voila.

This meal is to die for. It is SO full of flavour. And it’s easy. The best part is it makes for amazing left overs. Make extra so you can put it in a container for your lunch the next day (or make A LOT and make multiple containers to freeze for lunches).

Next up, candles. I know, every girl loves candles. (And most guys too, they just won’t admit it…oh yes guys who are reading this, I know you secretly love the comfort of candles burning in a home.) I mean who doesn’t like their house smelling of maple syrup and vanilla? Especially when it’s cool outside and you’re cuddled under a blanket watching a movie. Well I have one word for you, Indigo. They have amazing candles. AND they even look pretty. Nothing is worse then those big ugly candles in ugly glass jars that completely take away from the classiness of your decorated living room. This candle (which was ever so nicely bought by the bf and secretly stuffed into my purse while he was out shopping and I was enjoying yoga) is maple syrup and vanilla and makes my house smell incredible.

So now that your back into routines and schedules and summer is over, I have a suggestion for you. Cut your hair. It feels so good to start fresh and get a new look for a new year (alright so it’s not exactly a new year yet, but I’ll blame being a teacher on always considering September as a new year, not January). Cut your hair, grab a pumpkin spice latte and enjoy this beautiful weather.
